LIMA has extensive experience in the production of seats and insert rings, which are assembled within valves intended for use in pipelines, oil pipelines, oil platforms, cryogenic plants, and equipment for the chemical sector.

Both the seats and insert rings serve the primary purpose of ensuring maximum sealing during the operation of the valve. The specific working conditions of the involved industries, combined with the complexity of the operations and the significant costs associated with potential plant shutdowns, require the highest level of quality and durability for the materials used.

For this reason, increasingly more often, seats and insert rings made of thermoplastic and elastomeric materials are required, capable of ensuring high performance in terms of mechanical resistance, elasticity, thermal resistance, machinability, and resistance to substances such as methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, superheated steam, and sulphurated hydrocarbons.

The production of these components requires extreme care and precision: the respect of details such as bevels, bands, roughness, groove depths, angles, presumed ball heights, and radii is crucial for the proper functioning of the valve. For this reason, each stage of the production cycle is accompanied by strict and accurate controls, carried out using comparators, altimeters, and optical inspection machines.

LIMA is capable of manufacturing seats with an external diameter exceeding 1,000 mm. The quality of the workmanship is guaranteed both by the advanced technologies at our disposal and the professionalism of our staff: each seat is checked using altimeters, comparators, and sets of calibrated spheres.

When working conditions become extremely critical, it is preferred to manufacture seats in metallic material with a groove into which an insert ring made of thermoplastic or elastomeric material is placed, ensuring the sealing of the valve. LIMA, in addition to manufacturing insert rings up to 1,400 mm in outer diameter, has a dedicated hydraulic press for assembling the insert rings within their corresponding metal seats.
