Rotary Seals

Manufacturing Rotary Seals

Rotary seals are used to ensure sealing on rotating machine components, primarily to prevent contamination either from the inside or outside (e.g., water, oils, greases, or dust).

Typically, this type of seal consists of an elastomer element, a metal insert, and a spring; however, special profiles are also available. Rotary seals are used to seal machine components such as shafts and hubs in a wide range of industrial applications, including engines, pumps, rolling mills, rotary distributors, agricultural and construction machinery, household appliances, machine tools, shipbuilding, food and chemical processing machinery, and packaging and bottling systems.

Most Popular Profiles

Thermoplastic or Elastomeric Materials

The appropriate seal type must be selected by considering factors such as the working fluid, peripheral speed, operating temperature, pressure, and environmental conditions. The choice of the most suitable material depends on the specific challenges of each application.

Among the most requested materials are PTFE (virgin, modified, glass-filled, bronze-filled, carbon graphite-filled, carbon fibre-filled, graphite-filled, molybdenum disulfide-filled), POM, PE, polyurethane, and various types of rubber (e.g., FKM, EPDM, NBR).
