Manufacturing of O-Ring Seals

Scrapers are used to prevent internal contamination in hydraulic/pneumatic systems and are primarily employed in dynamic linear applications. Their role is crucial to ensure the proper functioning of the hydraulic/pneumatic system, which would otherwise deteriorate prematurely. They can be made with a single lip or a double lip.

Their applications are numerous: hydraulic presses, earth-moving machines, hydraulic power units, machine tools, and other machinery for various industrial sectors.

The range of usable profiles is considerable: for a proper choice, factors such as temperature, operating pressure, working speeds, material of the seal, fluids involved, clearance fit, dimensional size, and surface roughness must always be considered.

La quantità di profili utilizzabili è notevole: per una corretta scelta si devono sempre tenere presenti parametri quali la temperatura, la pressione d’esercizio, le velocità di lavoro, il materiale della guarnizione, i fluidi implicati, i giochi d’accoppiamento, l’ingombro dimensionale e le rugosità superficiali.

Thermoplastic or Elastomeric Material

Scrapers can be made from a sliding ring in thermoplastic material combined with an elastomeric O-ring, or they can be manufactured using either thermoplastic or elastomeric material alone. They may also contain steel supports.

Steel springs can also be incorporated. The choice of the most suitable material is determined by the specific requirements of the various applications. Among the most commonly used materials are PTFE (virgin, modified, glass-filled, bronze-filled, carbon graphite, carbon fiber, graphite, molybdenum disulfide), POM, PE, polyurethane, and various types of rubber (FKM, EPDM, NBR).
